If Your Eyes Leak, Your Head Won't swell!
The shortest verse in your bible is in the Book of John.
John 11:35
Jesus wept.
As a boy grows up, many times he is told to be a man and stop crying. On the contrary, we get use to many girls crying as they grow up and we just see them as being weak and girly. You don't have to be in a Pentecostal church to see grown men and women cry but you probably will see it more often.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked; who can know it?
It actually brought tears to my eyes when I realized how hard my heart had gotten through the years and how unsensitive I was towards those who actually had feelings. I took those childhood lessons of being a man and not crying right into my adult life. Anytime I saw someone shed a tear I saw it as a sign of weakness. Even though occasionally at a funeral or other sad time in my life I would shed a few in secret.
Ezekiel 36:26
A new heart also will I give you,
and a new spirit will I put within you:
and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh,
and I will give you a heart of flesh.
Repentance is the first step towards salvation. When we actually turn from the things that are wrong in our life and begin to move towards a new direction in life. When we experience Gods' Presence in our lives it can show us in a new way just how wrong many of the things that we thought were normal living are just plain sin. It has actually amazed me for years at the amount of people I have seen come into a church for the first time and weep uncontrollably in the Presence of God. At times I have wanted to get them something to wipe their face with and the LORD tells me to just leave them alone and let them enjoy My Presence!
Isaiah 55:8
For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD.
Maybe it's possible that all of those tears a person sheds as they truly come to the LORD are Gods' way of washing out all of the old thoughts and knowledge we had that we thought was so important in life that mean so little when we learn what the important things in life really are. Most of us probably see someone's tears as unimportant but God keeps each one we shed like a special treasure!
Psalm 56:8
Thou tellest my wanderings:
put thou my tears into thy bottle:
are they not in thy book?
In Mark Chapter 5 verses 25-34 we see the story of a woman that was sick for 12 years. The bible tells us that this woman spent all of the money she had on doctors and only got worse in her illness as she also went broke. I feel it safe to say that this woman cried tears of sadness for those 12 years BUT the bible says when she heard about JESUS she found a little faith in her life. We are told that there was a huge crowd of people standing around JESUS as this womans' faith began to draw her to Him. This sick woman began to push through the crowd determined to touch the DOCTOR of doctors.
Because of her illness she was considered unclean and not worthy to touch a priest but she made her way through the crowd determined that she was going to get her healing from God! I'm sure she continued to cry but they were no longer tears of sadness!
Mark 5:34
And He said unto her,
Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole;
go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
We can only wonder how many of her tears are in Gods Book!
If you are wondering why people are still crying over Jesus nearly 2000 years later, it's because He is still the same Yesterday, Today and Forever! When we realize how undeserving we are to touch Him and be touched by Him it is certain to touch your heart.
The woman in Mark Chapter 5 got to a point in life that she didn't care what people thought anymore! She found a small seed of faith and fought with everything in her to make that seed grow. Be sure there will always be a few crows in your life trying to snatch that seed, but even the crows will cry when they look in your eyes and see you have been touched by the KING of kings and LORD of lords!
Gods' love is like the love of a mother towards her child. I can still remember my mother holding me at times when I cried and she would just allow me to continue on and wipe those tears away as they flowed. Somehow, it always makes us feel better when our hearts feel surrounded by love in the midst of our tears.
Revelation 7:17
For the lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them,
and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters:
and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
While we enjoy the tears of salvation now we also know there will be a day when we will cry no more! A day when the Presence of the LORD will be 24/7 and at a level that this flesh we live in now could in no way contain. After we repent, the Blood of Jesus Christ begins to purge us and clean us of all sin. If you continue to hold on to sin, He will have to continue to purge you of sin.
Luke 5:37-38
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles;
else the new wine will burst the bottles,
and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
But new wine must be put into new bottles;
and both are preserved.
If nothing else here is enough to make you cry, the above verse should make you reconsider. Because of the Blood Jesus shed nearly 2000 years ago there is a promise for you of an overwhelming experience of the love of God. Acts Chapter 2 took place 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ and was the day that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the New Testament Church. The lives of all of those cowardly disciples changed drastically on that day.
Peter had denyed Jesus atleast three times prior to the Day of Pentecost but suddenly he begins to preach and baptize many people on that day. The words of Peter are still the same Yesterday, Today and Forever! Gods' promises are also worth crying about and there is an incredible promise from the Day of Pentecost for you and your family.
Acts 2:38-39
Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the PROMISE is unto you, and to your children,
and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD shall call.
Until the day He wipes them away,rejoice that they are in His Book!
