I pray that all is well with you once again as we begin to walk in the year 2012! I expect this year to be a great year as we rejoice in the LORD! Although I am back in Virginia now, I can still hear the voices of the angels singing in Texas. It is awesome to see that God is doing great
things in ALL parts of the world for those that are truly seeking His Face. May 2012 be a year that we all seek a more personal relationship with the LORD Jesus Christ! May it be a year that we walk more as He has called us to walk according to His Word and please don't forget to put your shoes on because you never know what might be laying in the road ahead of you!
John 14:15 (KJV)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
It is amazing how many times as Christians, we may think we have a word for someone, only to find out that they have a word for us! This happened on more than one occasion in Texas and one word that will stick with me forever was what one lady mentioned about "The Armor of God". I was sharing with
her the fact that I had noticed we can get comfortable in our Christian walk and begin to think we don't need to put on this armor EVERY DAY. How easy it is to begin to let the fiery darts of the wicked one hit you and just believe that you can handle them on your own was the point I was trying to make with her but since that conversation nearly 3 weeks ago I have begun to meditate on "The Armor of God" more regular.
Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
The most amazing thing in the conversation was when I mentioned that I had just recently realized the need to put this armor on EVERY DAY for our entire Christian walk. Her reply to me "Oh, I put it on twice a day!" When I first heard that I was thinking, "What a fanatic I have here!" but I was astonished as she continued on . She said "When I get up in the morning I put on my armor to prepare for the day that is about to come my way and then before I go to bed I put it on to protect me through the night in my house and to protect my dreams as I sleep"
As I have continued to pray and meditate on "The Armor of God" the importance of the shoes has been coming to my attention. I was helping some friends a couple of years ago with some things at their house when I thought I would teach the 9 year old boy a little something about "The Armor of God" I saw he had a poster of the armor in his room so I asked him how many pieces of armor there was to the outfit. To tell you the truth, I did not expect a 9 year old to even have a clue as to what I was asking him but he responded "7". I was surprised to even get an answer from him but I corrected him and told him "6". Surprisingly he took me to the poster and showed me the "7" pieces.
1) The Helmet of Salvation 2) The Shield of Faith 3) The Sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of
God) 4) The Breastplate of Righteousness 5) The Belt of Truth 6) The shoes
I could only count 6 as we went through but then he pointed out "Two Shoes!" If you think the second shoe is not important, try wearing just one the next time you go into battle at the workplace! It really is
hard to imagine a soldier fighting with only one shoe.
Ephesians 6:15 (KJV)
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Although I have seen a few people today wearing shoes that do NOT match, I would say that when you put on "The Armor of God" be sure that your shoes DO match! We can see that we are told to put on shoes that are designed for the preparation of the "Gospel of Peace" so don't get up and put on shoes
designed for the preparation of the "Gospel of War".
2 Chronicles 20:15 (KJV)
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat,
Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude;
for the battle is not yours, but God's.
I think it is safe to say also we can't have on one shoe for peace and the other shoe for war. Let's make sure our shoes match and let the LORD guide us and not ourselves!
Psalm 37:23 (KJV)
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Have a blessed day and be sure to tell someone of the job about JESUS!
